PEN & INK - TECHNIQUES
Your first pen & ink piece will be an animal. We are going to talk about how to create a good composition using zooming and cropping. We will also loo at how to use the pen & ink techniques to "translate" the different textures and details effectively of your animal into the ink media. To start you need to choose an animal that has SCALES, FEATHERS or WRINKLED SKIN. Do not choose an animal that is colour dependent for all of its detail.

TAG! You're it!
Your second ink work will be less traditional, but still use the same concepts & techniques. It will be based on a more "Urban Art" or "Street Art" style - Graffiti. This time you will be learning to use translucent ink over top of your black opaque india ink.
Graffiti are writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface, often in a public place. Graffiti range from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and they have existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire. |
You are encouraged to do some independent image research to help you get a better feel for different urban art/street art styles. You need to look but not copy! This work should be original and all your own ideas even if the style has a clear influence.
