This Week (Friday September 21st, 2018) is PEACE DAY!
Our sketchbook project this week will be related to this. The organization Peace One Day is hosting a Google Doodle day for students all over the world and we are registered to take part with our Visual Arts classes this year. Go us! Here is a video to explain what we are part of.... |
Next, let's reflect & discuss... What is Peace Day? What is Peace One Day? What has happened
over the journey of Peace Day so far? Did you notice any familiar people or companies in the film? Why might support from notable people or brands be useful? Why is awareness a key first step?

This week's sketchbook activity is about using the power of design to create a fun, eye-catching and meaningful doodle that honours both the notion of Peace/Peace Day and Google’s logo... simultaneously.
There will be student logos featured by Google in honour of PEACE DAY from students in countries all over the world! (Our school's assigned number is 00087)
Here are some examples of past Google doodles to inspire you.
Here is the PROJECT TEMPLATE for you to practice on and create your design!

TECHNOLOGY
AS A DESIGN TOOL Artists and designers have so many tools at their disposal these days and these are always changing. While traditional media like pencil and paper are always important, digital designers rely on technology to create content. This means they not only need the ability to think creatively, use their imagination and utilize their art skills, they also need to understand how to use software and more and more often, how to code. |
You can use basic coding skills (even if you have never coded before!) to design your google logo for peace day.
Here is an introduction video to get you started with coding your logo. Here is where you can start designing & coding your peace/peace day themed Google Doodle. STEAM skills are everywhere! |
